As is common with many large courts, there is no real close parking to the entrance. There is some free, on street parking and a large lot is located by the old courthouse. An additional lot is across the street from the old courthouse lot.
Getting Around Court
As soon as you enter the doors you will be at the metal detectors. Camera phones are not allowed in and there are no lockers to store them in. Save yourself a walk and leave your camera phones in your car.
Stairs to the general district courtrooms on the second flood are located to the left while the elevators are straight ahead and slightly to the right.
Once up the stairs and on the second floor, look for the welcome desk (across from the elevators) and check for your name and courtroom number on the docket. There are no dockets posted outside of the individual courtrooms.
As you walk down the second floor hallway you will pass Court #1, #2, #3, #4 and #5. Courtroom #4 is used right before court for the officers, prosecutors, and defense attorneys to meet in.
A Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program (VASAP) office is located at the end of the 2nd floor hallway.
There is also a nice Cafeteria located in the lower level.
The main general district court clerk’s office is located close to the elevators on the 2nd floor. Each courtroom has its own clerk’s window also.
